We are developing an improved way for the same user to access multiple schools without requiring schools to coordinate shared user administration or create separate, temporary accounts.
This is particularly useful for organisations that collect subject preferences from prospective students across multiple schools, where the same student may need to interact with more than one school.
Current Challenge
Currently, providing a student with access to multiple schools can require the schools to coordinate the creation and management of a multi-site user. Alternatively, schools may need to create separate accounts and provide different login details to the student.
Neither approach is ideal, particularly when managing large numbers of prospective students.
Proposed Enhancement
We are testing changes that will allow an existing username to be added independently to another school.
Each school will maintain its own user record, role and permissions. This means:
The same user can be associated with multiple schools.
Schools can manage the user's access independently.A user's role at one school will not affect their role at another school.
Schools will not need to coordinate the user's permissions with other participating schools.
Users will have a simpler and more consistent sign-in experience.
