When selecting Sign In to Activate in Version 10, some users may find that the activation window does not open.

For some users, when clicking Publish Timetable to Web Daily Organiser, the window does not open.

This behaviour is typically caused by Microsoft Defender’s reputation-based protection, which may block the activation utility the first time it runs.

How to Resolve the Issue

  1. Open the installation folder
Go to the location where Version 10 is installed. For most schools, this is:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Timetabling Solutions\Timetabling Solutions Version 10

  2. Run ActivateSoftware.exe as Administrator
    • Right-click ActivateSoftware.exe

    • Select Run as administrator

  3. If prompted for an administrator password
    • Your school’s IT department will need to assist.

    • Running the file once with elevated permissions allows Microsoft Defender to trust the executable.

  4. After the first trusted run
    • The activation utility is recognised as safe.

    • Standard users will be able to launch it normally going forward.

Why This Occurs

Microsoft Defender includes a reputation-based protection feature. When an application has not yet built a reputation on that specific device, Defender may prevent it from opening until an administrator confirms it is safe.
