Overview
When deploying Timetabling Solutions V10 to Windows devices using Microsoft Intune, the Install behaviour setting determines whether local administrator rights are required by the end user.
This article explains the difference between System and User install contexts and provides guidance on the recommended configuration.
Install Behaviour Options in Intune
When configuring a Win32 app deployment in Intune, you will be prompted to choose an Install behaviour.
System Context (Recommended)
The installer runs using the built-in system (Administrator) account
End users do not require local administrator rights
Suitable for:
Domain-joined devices
Intune-enrolled devices
Standard user environments
This is the recommended option for most school and enterprise deployments
Result:
Timetabling Solutions V10 installs successfully without requiring the user to elevate privileges.
User Context
The installer runs under the logged-in user’s account
The end user must have local Administrator rights
Not recommended where users are standard (non-admin) users
Result:
If the user does not have Administrator permissions, the installation will fail.
Recommended Configuration
For Intune-managed environments, Timetabling Solutions recommends:
Install behaviour:
SystemInstaller type: Win32 app
Deployment: Required (or Available, depending on your rollout model)
This approach aligns with best practice for managed Windows environments and avoids unnecessary elevation requirements for end users.
