Preparing for the transition
We encourage schools to begin exploring Modern 26 now, using a test campus, rather than waiting until the start of the 2027 school year.
You can do this using a test campus and an existing timetable, without affecting your school's current Daily Organiser data.
Step 1 – Create a test campus
In the Management Portal:
- Go to Task 2A Manage School, and create a new campus (e.g. "Modern 26 Testing").
- Add the 2027 Academic Year and configure the term dates.
- Publish a timetable for the test campus. This does not need to be your 2027 timetable - you can use an existing timetable you are familiar with.
Step 2 – Explore Modern 26
- At the top right of the page, click your profile picture, click Profile, scroll down and change the Daily Organiser Interface to Modern 26.
- Open the Daily Organiser and select your new test campus and 2027 Academic Year.
- Explore the interface and familiarise yourself with the new Groups functionality and planning features.
- Task 6B Plan Days: 6B Plan Days - Timetabling Solutions Knowledge Base
- Task 6C Plan Casual Days: 6C Plan Casual Days - Timetabling Solutions Knowledge Base
- Task 7B Plan Rooms: 7B Plan Rooms - Timetabling Solutions Knowledge Base
You can experiment with the test dataset without affecting your school's existing Daily Organiser data.
Step 3 – Prepare for 2027
Once you are familiar with Modern 26 and your 2027 timetable is ready:
- In the Management Portal, create the 2027 Academic Year under your school's regular campus and configure the term dates.
- Publish your 2027 timetable to the regular campus.
- Open the Daily Organiser using Modern 26, then select your regular campus and 2027 Academic Year.
You are now ready to commence the 2027 school year using Modern 26.
Important: Modern 26 uses a new data format that is not compatible with Modern or Classic.
Once an existing Daily Organiser dataset is upgraded to Modern 26, it cannot be opened in earlier versions. All users accessing that dataset must use Modern 26.
By creating a new 2027 dataset in Modern 26, you can leave your existing 2026 Daily Organiser data unchanged.
